2025-26 Forsyth County Middle School Basketball Schedule Released
2025-26 Forsyth County Middle School Basketball Schedule Released
Preseason and Team Structure
Basketball season has officially arrived in Forsyth County, as middle school teams across the district have begun preseason workouts and preparations for the upcoming campaign. Forsyth County features both 7th and 8th grade teams for boys and girls, with each program fielding four squads.
Tryouts and Roster Outlook
Tryouts are scheduled for the weeks of October 13 for the girls teams and October 20 for the boys teams, followed by a series of preseason matchups to get teams game-ready before the regular season begins.
For 8th grade, since there is typically limited roster turnover from the previous year’s 7th grade teams to the current 8th grade squads, coaches and fans already have a good sense of returning talent and how each team might stack up heading into the new season.
Unlike 8th grade, the 7th grade rosters are brand new to the county squads. While many of these players may have competed together in recreational leagues, travel ball, or other programs, this will be their first time representing their school officially. That makes it more difficult to predict how the season will unfold, as each team looks to establish chemistry and identity early in the schedule.
Season Dates and Format
The 2025–26 regular season tips off on Thursday, November 13, and will span 11 weeks, concluding on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Each team will face every other county opponent once during the season, with one bye date built into the schedule for every squad.
Game Days and Holiday Breaks
Most games are set to be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with five matchups scheduled each game day, while the final games of the regular season will be played on a Wednesday to close out the campaign. The schedule also includes two breaks — one for Thanksgiving and another for Christmas and New Year’s — giving players and coaches time to rest and recharge before returning to action.
Postseason Format
All teams in Forsyth County qualify for the postseason, meaning the regular season primarily serves as a battle for seeding in the county tournament. The top five seeds earn a bye into the quarterfinals, giving them a valuable edge as the playoff bracket unfolds in late January.
Game Nights and Start Times
Each game night features back-to-back 7th and 8th grade contests played on school campuses across the county. The 7th grade games begin 5:30 or 6:00 PM. The 8th grade games begin approximately 10 minutes after the completion of the 7th grade games, typically starting around 6:45 PM when the 7th grade tips off at 5:30, or around 7:15 PM when the 7th grade game begins at 6:00. When the boys teams play at home, the girls teams play on the road, and vice versa — ensuring that each school’s gyms are in use every game night and that fans across the county can enjoy plenty of basketball action all season long.
