2025-26 Forsyth County Middle School Basketball Gameday #3
After two games for most teams — and three for North Forsyth and Vickery Creek, who played last night — the standings are starting to take shape, separating early contenders from those still searching for their footing. Four teams remain unbeaten: Little Mill, South Forsyth, and Riverwatch all sit atop the league at 2–0, while Lakeside is just a half-game back at 1–0 following their bye last week.
Vickery Creek (2–1) picked up their second win of the season last night, edging North Forsyth 39–34, and are now just half a game out of first place themselves.
At the other end of the spectrum, four teams have already dropped two games. Piney Grove is the only team with just one result so far, sitting at 0–1 after their bye on Tuesday.
Now attention turns to Day 3 of the regular season. These will be the last games until December 2nd as Forsyth County Schools heads into Thanksgiving break next week. Otwell has their bye date so they will get an extra long break from game action.
Featured Matchup
South Forsyth (2-0) @ Little Mill (2-0)
Date: Thursday, November 20 | Tipoff: 5:30 PM
Based on their first two games of the season, this could easily be the biggest matchup in the county so far. Little Mill has steamrolled its first two opponents — 64–30 over Vickery Creek and 50–17 against North Forsyth — averaging a staggering 33.5-point margin of victory. The Mustangs’ high-powered offense will face its toughest test yet against South Forsyth, whose stingy defense has allowed just 15.5 points per game through their opening two contests.
There are certainly other teams in the league capable of contending for a championship this year, and it is still very early in the season. But if these first two games are any indication, this matchup could serve as a preview of another heated battle down the road in the playoffs. The key question will be whether South Forsyth can slow down — or even completely shut down — Little Mill’s potent offensive firepower. Can the Eagles’ lockdown defense rise to the occasion and contain one of the county’s most explosive teams, or will the Mustangs’ high-scoring attack prove too much to handle? Either way, this game promises to be a clash of styles and a true measuring stick for both squads.
Other Matchups
Vickery Creek (1–1) bounced back from their opening-night loss to Little Mill with a convincing 49–34 victory over DeSana. The Vipers demonstrated balanced scoring and solid defensive stops to secure the win, improving their position in the early-season standings. North Forsyth (1–1), meanwhile, fell back in the pack after dropping their first game of the season to Little Mill, 50–17.
NOTE: The game was moved up a day and was won by Vickery Creek 39-34. The Vipers improved to 2-1 and sit half a game out of the top spot in the 7th grade league standings. The Wildcats fell to 1-2 and will look to regroup over the break.
Hendricks (1–1) fell from the ranks of unbeatens after dropping a 39–22 decision to Lakeside, evening their early-season record. DeSana (0–2) has had a tough start, facing a gauntlet of strong opponents with their first two games against Riverwatch and Vickery Creek, two of the league’s top teams.
Now the Dragons face another formidable challenge, taking on a squad that typically competes near the top of the standings, giving them another early test of their resilience and growth. Hendricks will look to rebound and get back in the win column as both teams head into the holiday break, eager to finish the first half of the season on a high note.
Lakeside (1–0) opened their season with an impressive 39–22 road victory at Hendricks. The Lions got contributions from nine different players, and their defense clamped down in the second half, allowing just two points. Liberty (0–2) has had a tough start, dropping two close, single-digit games to 2–0 teams Riverwatch and South Forsyth.
It’s a matchup that’s difficult to predict. Lakeside has the momentum and depth, but Liberty’s determination and experience against strong competition could make this a tightly contested battle. Both teams will look to make a statement as they continue building throughout the season.
Riverwatch (2–0) has already clearly shown they can handle any type of game so far this season. The Panthers dominated DeSana 68–34 in a blowout and then edged Liberty 44–42 in a nail-biter, proving they can win whether it’s a high-scoring affair or a tight, pressure-packed battle.
Piney Grove (0–1) comes off their bye looking to rebound from a tightly contested, disappointing 36–30 loss to North Forsyth in their season opener. The Grizzlies struggled to find consistent offensive production in that game, a potential red flag as they prepare to face a Riverwatch squad averaging 56.0 points per contest through its first two games.
