There were two game days in Week 1 for the girls as Hendricks and Otwell played a day earlier than all the other teams on Wednesday, November 13. The Hawks won their two games over the Bulldogs.
Just the opposite of the boys, that would be the only sweep of the week. All of the other games were split between the two teams competing. After Hendricks' 7th grade girls team put up an incredible 57 points in the opening game of the season, only three other teams (Liberty-8th, Piney Grove-8th, and South Forsyth-7th) saw their final scores get into the 40s.
There are two game days scheduled for Week 2. This week's action starts on Tuesday night with five games. Lakeside begins their campaign after having last week's opener off. The Lions travel to Hendricks Middle School to take on the Hawks. Hendricks (1-0, 1-0) is the only school that won both of their season openers last week.
Vickery Creek (0-1, 1-0) travels to DeSana (1-0, 0-1) for their Tuesday night games. Both teams split in their first games of the season. The Vipers played in a pair of two point games, while the final scores in the Dragons' games were both by double digits.
Riverwatch (0-1, 1-0) heads north this week to take on Liberty (0-1, 1-0). Each 7th grade team lost in the season opening games and both 8th grade teams had double digit wins.
Little Mill (1-0, 0-1) faces off against their rivals, North Forsyth (1-0, 0-1). All four teams struggled to score in Week 1. The 7th grade teams each won their matchups scoring the fewest points (LMMS-17 & NFMS-11) amongst the winning teams. Both 8th grade teams dropped their opening night games.
South Forsyth (1-0, 0-1) heads up the road to face Otwell (0-1, 0-1). South Forsyth's 7th grade team had a great game in their opening game victory but the 8th grade squad dropped their first game. The Bulldogs suffered two tough defeats in Week 1.
Piney Grove (0-1, 0-1) gets Tuesday night off as they prepare to play Riverwatch on Thursday.
There will be a short write up for the games being contested Thursday, November 21, 2024 after the completion of Tuesday night's games. Here is an early look at the contests taking place on Thursday night. These will be the last games before the Thanksgiving break next week.
