Week 2 finished up last Thursday and the teams have entered the first break of the season. The next games on the schedule will take place next Wednesday, December 4th. Nine of the eleven schools will play back-to-back games upon their return from the Thanksgiving holiday, with games also on December 5th.
Just four schools remain unbeaten across 7th (2) and 8th (2) grade. Hendricks (3-0, 2-1) and South Forsyth (3-0, 2-1) sit atop the 7th grade standings. In 8th grade, the league leaders, Lakeside (1-1, 2-0) and Piney Grove (0-2, 2-0) have already had their bye dates so they are both at 2-0.
There were a number of games across last Thursday's slate that produced very close results. Seven of the contests (three in 7th grade and four in 8th grade) were in the single digits. After the first two gamedays produced just three sweeps, the third gameday had just as many. Hendricks, Lakeside, and South Forsyth picked up wins in both 7th and 8th grade. Out of the four other teams in action, North Forsyth (1-2, 2-1), Piney Grove, and Vickery Creek (2-1, 1-2) have split their games each time they have stepped on the court. Riverwatch (1-2, 1-2) bounced back from a sweep last week to get a 7th grade victory.
In 7th grade, South Forsyth still leads the league in scoring margin, with an average differential of 39.3 points (52.0-12.7). The two leaders in scoring margin in 8th grade faced off against each other. Lakeside defeated Liberty 47-38. The nine point difference dropped both teams' scoring margins, but the Lions remain at the top with a +25.5 margin (51.0-25.5).
South Forsyth has dominated in 7th grade so far, leading in points per game for (52.0) and in points per game against (12.7). Hendricks is just behind scoring 44.3 points per game (PPG) so far. In 8th grade, Lakeside leads with a scoring average of 51.0 PPG. Liberty sits in second with 43.7 PPG. South Forsyth also leads 8th grade in points per game against, giving up just under 23 PPG (22.7).
Through three gamedays, just two teams (HMS and SFMS) remain unbeaten. Three teams (LSMS, LMMS, and VCMS) have one defeat. Over half of the league (6 out of 11) already has two losses on the young season. Six teams have scoring margins under nine points per game.
Eighth grade also has just two undefeated teams and both (LSMS and PGMS) have had their bye date, playing just two games so far. Four teams (HMS, LMS, NFMS, and SFMS) are tied for 3rd place with one loss. Outside of LSMS (25.5) the scoring margins between the other ten teams range from +15.7 to -13.5.
