Last Thursday marked the end of Week 4. Four schools have already completed seven games as we are now on the backside of the 2024-25 regular season. There were two gamedays in Week 4 on Tuesday and Thursday. Both 7th and 8th grade still have two undefeated teams. Hendricks (7-0, 3-4) and South Forsyth (7-0, 4-3) sit atop the 7th grade standings after each picked up two wins during the week. Lakeside (5-1, 6-0) and Piney Grove (0-6, 6-0) Hendricks (6-1, 7-0) both won two games as well to push their winning streaks to six games, which leads the league in 8th grade.
In 7th grade, Hendricks, Lakeside, Liberty (3-3, 5-1), and South Forsyth swept their two games in Week 4. The top three in the standings are starting to put some separation between themselves and the rest of the pack. HMS, SFMS, and LSMS have built a three and a half game lead over their next closest pursuers, Liberty and Vickery Creek (3-3, 1-5).
In 8th grade, Lakeside, Liberty, and Piney Grove were the only three teams to win two games last week. Those same three teams are leading the standings heading into Week 5. They do not have quite the same separation as the top three in 7th grade, but they have built a two and a half game over fourth place, Riverwatch (3-4, 4-3) and South Forsyth.
After four weeks of action, South Forsyth leads the 7th grade in scoring margin, currently winning by an average score of 51.0-15.0 (36.0 margin). Lakeside still sits atop the league in 8th grade with a scoring margin of 39.7 points per game (56.2-16.5).
South Forsyth maintained their spot leading 7th grade in scoring at 51.0 points per game. Behind the Eagles, Hendricks (45.9 PPG) is the only other team scoring more than 30 PPG. Lakeside is averaging 56.2 points per game and sits in the first position in scoring for 8th grade. The Lions are dominating their competition. The next closest team in PPG is Liberty at 45.3. Piney Grove is third in points scored per game at 39.3.
On the defensive side of the ball in 7th grade, three teams are allowing less than 20.0 points per game. It is no surprise that it is the top three teams in the league (SFMS-15.0, HMS-16.3, and LSMS-19.3). South Forsyth's 7th grade team is the only team in either league holding their opponents below 20.0 points per game (19.7). In 8th grade, Lakeside (16.5 OPPG) and Liberty (19.3) are at the top of the league in points allowed per game.
Hendricks and South Forsyth are the front runners and are clearly separating themselves in the standings. Lakeside is hanging in there, but HMS already has a win over LSMS in Week 2. There is one gameday next week, on Tuesday, as the schools head into Christmas/New Year's break.
Lakeside already owns a victory over Liberty in Week 2. Now the Lions take on the other undefeated team in Piney Grove in the week's top game. It could turn out to be the game of the season! The winner will take sole possession of first place in the standings heading into the season's second break.
