Up to this point, Lakeside has established themselves as the favorite with an unblemished record and wins over their next closest pursuers (Liberty and Piney Grove). Despite that, with three games remaining and a number of tiebreaker scenarios still in play, the Lions still need one win to clinch a first round bye. The top five teams in the standings earn a spot in the quarterfinals with their first round byes.
Liberty and Piney Grove sit in a tie for second place in the standings with 6-1 records. If Liberty defeats North Forsyth upon the teams' return to action, the Patriots will clinch a first round bye. Piney Grove would also get a first round bye with a Liberty victory and a win of their own over DeSana. The Grizzlies could also clinch a bye with a win and a loss by either South Forsyth or Riverwatch.
The other two byes will not be determined until the last three games of the season. Currently, South Forsyth (4th; 5-3), North Forsyth (T-5th; 4-3), and Riverwatch (T-5th; 4-3) are in a battle for the last two spots that would get a first round bye. The three teams have split their games with each other which muddies the waters a bit.
Hendricks and Otwell are holding onto slim hopes of breaking into the top five. Hendricks owns a possible tiebreaker with Otwell if both teams won out. A number of scenarios would have to play out as well for either team to get to a first round bye.
DeSana, Vickery Creek, and Little Mill cannot get a bye game but will be looking to improve their seeding coming down the stretch run of the regular season.
Hendricks and South Forsyth have been the dominant teams so far, and both teams have clinched first round byes. Their upcoming matchup will go a long way in determining the number one seed. However, it might not be determined until after the final games of the regular season.
Third place, Lakeside, still has a chance at the number one seed. If South Forsyth beats Hendricks, and Lakeside wins out (which would include a win over South Forsyth in the final game), there would be a three way tie for first place. That would require a coin flip to determine the top three seeds in the playoffs.
Liberty (4th; 4-3), Riverwatch (T-5th; 3-4), and Vickery Creek (T-5th; 3-4) occupy the other top five spots. Liberty defeated Riverwatch earlier in the season and play Vickery Creek in their final game, which allows the Patriots to control their own destiny. Riverwatch owns a victory over Vickery Creek so they control the tiebreaker for the 5th spot currently.
The parity in the league is quite high with only one game separating the 5th place team down to the 9th place team. Even with six losses so far, Otwell is still in the running to get into one of the top 5 spots. The Bulldogs would have to win out and then get a lot of help. Piney Grove is the only team to have been eliminated from earning a first round bye.
