2025-26 Forsyth County Middle School Basketball Gameday #3
After two games for most teams — and three for North Forsyth and Vickery Creek, who played last night — the standings are beginning to take shape, creating a clearer divide between the early contenders and those still trying to find their rhythm. Only three teams remain unbeaten, with Little Mill and Riverwatch sitting atop the standings at 2–0. Lakeside follows just a half-game back at 1–0, with their bye date falling during the opening week of action.
Vickery Creek (2–1) strengthened their position Wednesday night with a 35–15 win over North Forsyth, giving the Vipers their second victory of the year and placing them only half a game out of first place.
Five teams currently sit with one loss — including the previously mentioned Vickery Creek — while three teams have dropped two games. North Forsyth is now among that group following their defeat to the Vipers last night.
Now attention turns to Day 3 of the regular season. These will be the last games until December 2nd as Forsyth County Schools heads into Thanksgiving break next week. Otwell has their bye date so they will get an extra long break from game action.
Featured Matchup
Little Mill (2-0) @ South Forsyth (1-1)
Date: Thursday, November 20 | Tipoff: 5:30 PM
Just like in 7th grade boys basketball, the marquee matchup on the girls’ side is also Little Mill vs. South Forsyth. The Mustangs are off to a sizzling start, dominating their first two games with 20+ point victories. They opened by taking down a strong Vickery Creek squad 36–16, then followed it up with a decisive 40–6 rout of North Forsyth — a statement win by any measure.
South Forsyth, meanwhile, started fast with a 30–21 victory over Liberty, but Tuesday brought a setback as the Eagles were stunned by Otwell 35–27 in one of the week’s early surprises.
Little Mill enters this matchup looking to stay perched atop the standings as the holiday break approaches. South Forsyth, on the other hand, is aiming to climb back into the chase for the top spot — and a win here would go a long way toward resetting their trajectory.
Other Matchups
Vickery Creek (1–1) bounced back from their opening-night loss to Little Mill with a resounding 42–3 victory over DeSana. The Vipers demonstrated balanced scoring and solid defensive stops to secure the win, improving their position in the early-season standings. North Forsyth (1–1), meanwhile, fell back in the pack after dropping their first game of the season to Little Mill, 40-6.
NOTE: The game was moved up a day and was won by Vickery Creek 35-15. The Vipers improved to 2-1 and sit half a game out of the top spot in the 7th grade league standings. The Wildcats fell to 1-2 and will look to regroup over the break.
Hendricks (1–1) slipped from the ranks of the unbeatens after a high-scoring battle with Lakeside, coming up short 54–47. DeSana (0–2), meanwhile, has endured a brutal opening stretch, managing single-digit scoring in decisive losses to Riverwatch (9 points) and Vickery Creek (3 points).
Now the Dragons walk into yet another formidable challenge, facing a Hendricks squad that traditionally lives near the top of the standings — a true early-season test of their resilience and growth. The Hawks will look to bounce back and head into the holiday break with renewed momentum, while DeSana aims to show signs of progress against elite competition.
Lakeside (1–0) erupted for 54 points in their season opener — the first 50+ point performance by a 7th grade girls team. They needed every bit of that offense, too, as Hendricks pushed them in a high-scoring game, 54–47. Liberty (0–2), meanwhile, has had a tough but competitive start, dropping two single-digit decisions to Riverwatch and South Forsyth.
This matchup presents an intriguing contrast in styles. Liberty hasn’t allowed more than 34 points in either of their games, so the big question is whether the Patriots’ defense can cool off a Lakeside attack that just lit up the scoreboard. Will we see another shootout?
Riverwatch (2–0) has already made it clear they can thrive in any type of game. The Panthers opened with a dominant 40–9 blowout of DeSana, then followed it up by grinding out a 34–29 win over Liberty — showing they’re equally comfortable in track meets or tense, possession-by-possession battles.
Piney Grove (0–1) comes off their bye looking to rebound from a tough 34–13 loss to North Forsyth in their season opener. The Grizzlies struggled to generate consistent offense in that matchup, a potential red flag as they prepare to take on a Riverwatch team allowing just 19.0 points per game through its first two contests.
