Week 3 is upon us as the teams already approach the halfway point of the season. There are five more divisional games on tap for this week. Two of the three remaining unbeaten teams (Little Mill and Liberty) are in action this week, while Lakeside has the week off.
Lots of attention will be on the Liberty versus North Forsyth game this week. It is an important game in regards to how things might shake out in the West Division this year. With just five divisional games in the West, almost all games are a must win if you want to win the division outright. Liberty started their season last week with a divisional win over Hendricks. North Forsyth got back on track in a big way with a win over Otwell after dropping their Week 1 matchup with Lakeside. The winner of this game will be 2-0 in the West, while the loser will drop to 1-1 and have to claw their way back into playoff contention.
The big game on the schedule this week in the East Division is Piney Grove taking on South Forsyth. With a win (and Lakeside being on bye), Piney Grove would take over sole possession of first place. Meanwhile, South Forsyth will be desperately trying not to fall to 0-2 in the division.
In other action this week, Little Mill will look to continue their hot start when they face off against Otwell. The Mustangs are going for their third consecutive win, which would keep them atop the standings in the West Division.
DeSana (vs Riverwatch) and Hendricks (vs Vickery Creek) will attempt to get back on the winning side of things after dropping their first games last week. On the flip side, Riverwatch and Vickery Creek are wanting to notch their first wins of the 2024 season.
All five games this week will take place at the various high school stadiums across the county and kick off at 6:30 PM. All signs for Tuesday's forecast point to another scorcher, but once again a 0% chance of rain is predicted. The temperatures will be in the upper 80s at kick off and will drop into the upper 70s as the games move on through the evening.
