The regular season comes to a conclusion this week with a full slate of division games. Most eyes will be on the Liberty versus Little Mill matchup, but it will be interesting to see how the other playoff teams fare the week before the playoffs begin.
It all comes down to Week 8 to determine the last playoff spot in the West Division. Ever since Little Mill fell to North Forsyth in Week 5, dropping them into a 2nd place tie with Liberty, the two teams have been waiting for this game and the day has finally arrived. Liberty played last week (win over Riverwatch 47-20) coming off the Fall Break holiday. Meanwhile, Little Mill's last game took place back on September 17th (loss to DeSana 22-20).
The #1 seed in the East Division (Lakeside) and the West Division (North Forsyth) will look to end their seasons on a high note. With wins, both teams would finish with perfect division records. Lakeside would wrap up an undefeated season overall, as well.
South Forsyth (#2 seed in the East) is looking to end the year with just one blemish in the division (loss to Lakeside in Week 2, 31-36). A victory over DeSana would also give the Eagles a five game winning streak heading into the playoffs.
The other game this week is a "Game of the Week" in its own right because Otwell or Vickery Creek will pick up their first win of the season. It has been a struggle for both teams in 2024, but a win for either team will be an uplifting way to end the regular season.
Another week of wonderful weather for football is ahead. The temperatures will be in the mid 70s at kickoff and will drop into the mid to upper 60s at the conclusion of this week's games. Once again, there will not be much wind and no rain is in sight.
