The Spring sports, including golf, have entered into Spring Break this week. The golf teams have completed four weeks of matches and their Invitational Tournament.
So far, Riverwatch sits atop the standings with a win in the County Invitational and a perfect 5-0-0 record in their matches. Last year's champions have been dominant this year, winning the Invitational by 15 strokes over Lakeside and their matches by a whopping average of 36 shots!
Riverwatch’s success this season has been driven by the standout performances of Kate Ahn and Smyan Reddy. One or the other has led the team in scoring at every event they have competed in, consistently setting the pace for their squad.
Week 1 of the 2025 season consisted of four matches, which saw DeSana, King's Ridge, Vickery Creek, and Riverwatch kick off the season with strong performances and early victories.
Week 2 was highlighted by the County Invitational. The 11 county teams and King's Ridge teed it up at Olde Atlanta Golf Club on March 11th. As was mentioned previously, Riverwatch (175) took the first place trophy by 15 strokes over Lakeside (190). DeSana (195), King's Ridge (202), and Vickery Creek (203) rounded out the top 5.
Forty-seven players competed in the event (schools were allowed four players; Piney Grove had just three). Each of Riverwatch's four players placed in the top 13 individually. DeSana, Lakeside, and Vickery Creek each had two of their four players finish in the top 15. No other teams had more than one player end up in the top 15.
Boys' Invitational Champion, Howar Li
The top three finishers in both the boys' and girls' divisions were awarded plaques for their achievements. On the boys' side, Lakeside dominated the podium, taking the top two spots. Howar Li (+2) delivered a strong performance to claim the individual title, winning by three strokes over his teammate Tate Hull (+5) and Riverwatch’s Smyan Reddy (+5).
In the girls' division of the event, Riverwatch excelled, securing the top two spots. Kate Ahn (+8) claimed the individual title with a strong performance, finishing five strokes ahead of her teammate, Ebin Hong (+13). Four matches were held two days after the Invitational, which saw DeSana and King's Ridge stay hot with two more victories. North Forsyth and South Forsyth picked up their first wins of the season.
Week 3 saw an uptick in action with seven matches played, featuring ten county teams competing at least once. North Forsyth, Riverwatch, Vickery Creek, and King’s Ridge took on an even greater challenge, each playing twice during the week. Leading the way, King’s Ridge and Riverwatch delivered strong showings, securing victories in both of their matches. Otwell was the only team that did not compete over the course of the week.
Week 4 featured another seven scheduled matches, though only six were played after Little Mill and Otwell postponed their matchup due to unplayable course conditions. Riverwatch extended its impressive streak, securing two more wins to stay undefeated at 5-0-0. Lakeside delivered what may have been the most impressive victory of the week, defeating both North Forsyth and South Forsyth. Meanwhile, a surging North Forsyth battled to a hard-fought tie with previously unbeaten DeSana, closing out the week’s action. Once again, ten county teams competed, with Piney Grove being the only team to sit out.
