The 2025 track season is in full swing, with teams competing in three events so far. Once the teams return from Spring Break, there will be one more regular season event for all of the schools. Then, the following week, the County Championship will take place on April 17th.
The Liberty Patriots' girls team stands alone at the top, having won all three of their meets. South Forsyth (two wins) and Vickery Creek (one win) are close behind, keeping the competition tight.
Four teams have separated themselves from the pack in the girls' track standings. Liberty is a perfect 13-0 versus their competition, including 2-0 against two of their closest pursuers (North Forsyth and South Forsyth). Liberty and Vickery Creek have not faced each other yet.
Because the number of athletes competing varies from event to event, a "percentage of points" metric was introduced to level the playing field. Despite Liberty being in front of South Forsyth in the standings because of their three wins, the Eagles (38.3%) are actually scoring at a higher rate than the Patriots (36.0%). Liberty owns the head-to-head, winning over South Forsyth in Week 3, 96-93.
So far, seven teams have secured podium finishes, with six of them earning multiple top-three spots, highlighting the depth of competition this season. Liberty leads the pack with three first-place finishes.
North Forsyth and Vickery Creek have each claimed two second-place finishes. Riverwatch has been the most consistent third-place finisher, earning that spot in all of their events.
On the boys' side, the race for the top spot is even closer, with Liberty, South Forsyth, and Lakeside locked in a three-way tie. Each team has secured two victories, with only a few points separating them in the standings. With the season heating up, every meet becomes crucial in the battle for first place.
The battle for the top spot in the boys' track standings remains incredibly tight. In addition to Liberty, South Forsyth, and Lakeside each securing two event wins, all three teams have also recorded one second-place finish.
An even more telling stat: each of these teams holds a 12-1 record against one another and the other county schools. Because the number of athletes competing varies from event to event, a "percentage of points" metric was introduced to level the playing field. Liberty and South Forsyth are dead even, each scoring 29.4% of possible points, while Lakeside is just behind at 28.2%.
Several other teams have made strong starts to the 2025 track season, proving their ability to compete at a high level. Hendricks, Piney Grove, Vickery Creek, Little Mill, and Otwell have all secured a medal finish in at least one event.
HMS, PGMS, and LMMS have each secured two top-three finishes, firmly establishing themselves as early-season contenders.
