Week 3 Review
Week 3 wrapped up Thursday night, closing out five full gamedays across Forsyth County. With that, only three teams remain undefeated as some squads have reached the halfway point of their seasons. The most dominant so far is Little Mill’s 7th-grade team — the lone unbeaten group in that division — boasting an eye-popping average win margin of 39.8 points. That’s 28 points higher than the next closest team, Liberty. The other two undefeated teams both compete in 8th grade: South Forsyth and Vickery Creek. The Vipers secured their spotless record by taking down previously unbeaten Riverwatch in Thursday’s Featured Game.
7th Grade: Little Mill in a Class of Its Own
Three teams have created separation in the 7th-grade standings.
Little Mill (5–0) sits comfortably on top with dominant victories in all five games. Their “closest” contest was a 33-point win over North Forsyth in Week 2.
South Forsyth (4–1) and Riverwatch (4–1) are the next tier, each owning just one loss — both at the hands of Little Mill. Each has logged one blowout win, while their other victories have required more work.
Behind that trio is a sizable drop-off: the next closest records are 2–2, 2.5 games out of first place, with Liberty, Piney Grove, and Lakeside all tied for fourth.
8th Grade: A Split Field
The 8th-grade picture is nearly divided down the middle. Five teams have one loss or fewer, while the remaining six sit at three losses or more. The top five all carry positive scoring margins, whereas the bottom six have negative totals.
Chasing the two undefeated leaders:
Riverwatch (4–1) and Hendricks (4–1) — each just one game back.
Lakeside (3–1) — one and a half games out.
Among the contenders, South Forsyth has played one single-digit game (a win vs. DeSana), while Vickery Creek has survived two close ones (North Forsyth and Piney Grove). The Vipers also hold the league’s most impressive win to date — their victory over Riverwatch.

8th Grade
Vickery Creek (51) @ Riverwatch (40)
Vickery Creek (5–0) sits tied atop the 8th-grade boys standings with South Forsyth (5–0) after the Vipers knocked off previously undefeated Riverwatch (4–1) on Thursday night.
The Vipers jumped out to a six-point lead in the opening period behind hot shooting, with four different players finding the basket. Riverwatch answered by spreading the scoring as well, getting points from four players of its own to stay within striking distance after one quarter.
Vickery Creek took control in the second quarter, posting another double-digit scoring period and holding Riverwatch to just two points. That dominant stretch allowed the Vipers to race out to a 16-point halftime advantage, leading 28–12 at the break.
Jackson Armbrust led all scorers with 11 points at halftime for Vickery Creek. While no other player reached double figures, the Vipers showcased their depth with eight different players scoring in the first half. Riverwatch was led by John Muriithi, Will Potts, and Carter Smith, who each scored three points.
Riverwatch flipped the momentum in the third quarter, clawing back into the game by outscoring Vickery Creek 14–4 in the period to cut into the deficit. However, the Vipers responded when it mattered most, regrouping in the fourth quarter and posting their highest scoring frame of the night. Strong free-throw shooting down the stretch allowed Vickery Creek to pull away and secure an 11-point victory, 51–40.
Vickery Creek had two players reach double figures, led by Jackson Armbrust with 13 points and Ryder Horwege with 11. Horwege spearheaded the closing run, scoring six of his points in the fourth quarter. Riverwatch was led by the game’s top scorer, Yafeth Samuel, who poured in 22 points — 20 of them coming in the second half. Cooper Vaughan was next for the Panthers with six points.
Notable Contest
7th Grade
Little Mill (63) @ Riverwatch (7)
Little Mill (5-0) has further cemented itself as the clear favorite to cut down the nets in February after delivering another overwhelming performance—this time a 63–7 dismantling of previously unbeaten Riverwatch (4-1) on Tuesday night. The Mustangs wasted no time seizing control, racing out to a 26–4 lead after the opening quarter. From there, they only tightened their grip, pitching a 20–0 shutout in the second period to take a commanding 46–4 advantage into halftime.
Seven different Mustangs scored in the first half, and five of them recorded at least eight points during the early onslaught. Colt McKinney once again paced the team with 11 points, while Andrew Vanderhoff wasn’t far behind with nine. Riverwatch managed only two made field goals in the half, with Charlie Blanchard and Dylan Hwang supplying two points each.
Little Mill set the offense to cruise control in the third period, but the defensive intensity never dipped. The Mustangs once again held the Panthers scoreless, stretching the margin to a staggering 51 points heading into the final stanza. The fourth quarter belonged to the bench, as Little Mill emptied the rotation and allowed every player to log valuable minutes. Riverwatch managed to break through with three points in the period, but it wasn’t enough to win the frame, with the Mustangs adding eight more of their own.
Little Mill’s scoring was remarkably balanced for a team putting up 63 points. Nine different players found the scorebook, and all 11 Mustangs saw the floor. Colt McKinney added a second-half basket in limited minutes to finish with a team-high 13 points. Andrew Vanderhoff closed with 11, while Liam Brundidge was the third Mustang in double figures with 10. Riverwatch mustered just one field goal and one free throw after halftime—Adrian Zhang provided the lone basket, and Swarith Vudutha knocked down the free throw to complete the Panthers’ scoring.
