Tuesday’s matchup carries plenty of history and intrigue. South Forsyth enters the championship seeking its fifth county title overall and its first since the 2020 season, while DeSana is aiming to make history with its first championship in program history — and in its first-ever appearance in the title game. The two teams met just a few weeks ago in the regular season finale, a game South Forsyth won 44-14. However, that score doesn’t tell the full story, as DeSana trailed by only one possession at halftime before the Eagles pulled away in the second half, a pattern that has defined much of South Forsyth’s dominant, undefeated season.
Both offenses have been elite throughout the season, leading the way for two of the county’s top programs. DeSana is averaging 34 points per game, while South Forsyth has been just as potent, scoring 38 points per contest. Defensively, the Eagles hold the advantage, allowing only 7.6 points per game compared to 16.3 for the Dragons — a difference of more than a touchdown per outing. However, much of that margin stems from their earlier matchup, when South Forsyth’s 30-point win widened the statistical gap between the two sides.
On paper, this matchup appears to be a close one between two talented and well-coached teams. DeSana is coming off its best performance of the season, a dominant win over a strong Vickery Creek squad in the semifinals — a statement victory that served as the perfect rebound from the Dragons’ only loss of the year. South Forsyth, meanwhile, has been rolling from start to finish, maintaining its unbeaten record while keeping last year’s semifinal disappointment firmly in mind as motivation to finish the job this time around.
Everything points to a thrilling finale under the lights at Forsyth Central High School. Both teams have proven they belong on this stage — South Forsyth chasing redemption and its fifth county title, and DeSana looking to make history with its first. With two explosive offenses, motivated defenses, and a championship on the line, Tuesday night’s matchup has all the makings of a classic to close out another memorable Forsyth County middle school football season.
