2025 Forsyth County Middle School Football Championship Recap
South Forsyth rolled over DeSana 48–8 in the Forsyth County Middle School Football Championship on Tuesday night, capturing the program’s fifth overall title. It was a rematch of their regular-season finale — a game the Eagles also won, 44–14. That earlier meeting was close through halftime, and through the first quarter, Tuesday’s championship seemed to be following the same script. But South Forsyth flipped the switch in the second quarter. Behind a punishing ground attack, a suffocating defense, and a few key takeaways, the Eagles erupted for 24 points before halftime — and from there, the outcome was never in doubt.
Nerves and mistakes marked the early moments of the Forsyth County Middle School Championship, but once South Forsyth settled in, there was no stopping the Eagles. Behind the dominant play of running backs Beau Jewett and Theo Rhone, South Forsyth rolled to a 48–8 victory over DeSana on Tuesday night, securing its fifth overall county title.
The game began chaotically, with both teams trading turnovers. South Forsyth fumbled twice on its first two snaps, giving DeSana excellent field position at the Eagles’ 39-yard line. But the Dragons’ drive stalled after penalties and incompletions, and South Forsyth took back over at its own 45-yard line — the same spot where its first possession began.
DeSana’s defense came out firing, forcing another fumble and then intercepting a pass by Ethan Kang, as Brycen Hurst returned it deep into Eagle territory. But just when it looked like DeSana might strike first, the momentum shifted. A fumbled reverse by the Dragons was scooped up by Thomas Scullin and returned to the 13-yard line. Three plays later, Jewett powered into the endzone for the game’s first touchdown, then added the two-point conversion for an 8–0 lead.
The Eagles kept their foot on the gas. After recovering a perfectly executed onside kick, they drove deep into DeSana territory again, highlighted by a 24-yard run from Jewett. However, the Dragons’ Jonathan Ogundimu forced a fumble recovered by Brodie Minerd, ending the first quarter with South up 8–0.
South didn’t stay quiet for long. Early in the second quarter, Kang returned a punt to the 10-yard line, and Jewett punched in his second touchdown moments later to make it 16–0. After a Beau Jewett sack knocked Hurst out of the game, DeSana’s backup QB Sankalp Alamanda threw an interception to Mateo Giraldo, setting up another short field. Jewett immediately capitalized with a 45-yard burst and a third touchdown to extend the lead to 24–0.
The onslaught continued as Kang found Thomas Scullin uncovered for a 40-yard touchdown pass to make it 32–0 at halftime.
DeSana finally broke through early in the third quarter when Alamanda connected with Ryan Aljayoussi for a big gain and then scored on a 25-yard run. The Dragons added the two-point conversion to trim the deficit to 32–8. But South Forsyth answered immediately with a quick drive capped by Theo Rhone’s four-yard touchdown and another two-point run, restoring a 40–8 advantage.
From there, it was all Eagles. Rhone added his second touchdown late in the third quarter, Ty Doyle ran in the conversion, and the defense continued to clamp down. Interceptions by Ethan Kang and Ty Doyle sealed DeSana’s fate, and the Eagles’ backups closed out the remaining minutes.
When the final horn sounded, South Forsyth’s sideline erupted in celebration as the Eagles completed a dominant 48–8 win to capture the 2025 Forsyth County Middle School Championship — a fitting end to a perfect season.
