2025 Forsyth County Middle School Football Semifinals Recap

It was a beautiful night for football across Forsyth County, with clear skies, cool temperatures, and electric atmospheres at both semifinal venues. Fans packed the stands, and the energy carried over onto the field — but when the final whistles blew, it was South Forsyth and DeSana who rose above the rest, each earning their place in next week’s county championship in emphatic fashion.

It was a disappointing end for both North Forsyth and Vickery Creek. However, making the playoffs and sharing the West Division crown with 4-1 division records was quite the accomplishment.

The Wildcats were hoping to repeat as county champions but fell one game short of a return trip to the title stage. North Forsyth entered the semifinals with high expectations after a strong regular season, boasting a balanced offense and a defense that had been difficult to score on all year. Despite their effort and keeping the game close in the first half, the Wildcats couldn’t keep pace with South Forsyth in the second half, ending their season on a tough note.

For Vickery Creek, the season still represented major progress — the Vipers started 5-0 and were one of the county’s most improved teams after a tough 2024 campaign. They showed resilience and growth in nearly every game, earning respect from opponents and fans alike. However, a two-game skid to close the season brought their run to a halt as their bubble burst against a red-hot DeSana squad.

South Forsyth came into the game undefeated at 7-0, riding the momentum of perhaps their most complete performance of the season—a 44-14 win over fellow semifinalist DeSana—to earn the #1 seed in the east. The Eagles led both divisions in scoring offense, averaging 38 points per game, and defense, allowing just 6.5 points per contest.

North Forsyth’s only loss this season came at the hands of the west division champions, Vickery Creek. The Wildcats entered the matchup on a three-game win streak, the second-longest in the county behind South Forsyth, and boasted the third-highest scoring margin in Forsyth County.

At South Forsyth High School, the Eagles once again showed why they’ve been one of the county’s most consistent programs. The first half between South Forsyth and North Forsyth lived up to the hype, as both teams traded blows in a physical, high-energy opening half. The Eagles held a slim 16-14 lead at the break, but the second half was all South. Behind a relentless offensive attack and a defense that made all the right adjustments, the Eagles pulled away in dominant fashion to secure a 38-14 victory.

Both teams came into the game suffering their first losses of the season in their regular-season finales, and up to that point, both had been dominant — winning all other games by 13 points or more. DeSana had been getting it done with a potent offense, scoring the second-highest total of points in the county and consistently putting pressure on opposing defenses. Vickery Creek, on the other hand, relied on a stingy defense that gave up the second-lowest point total among all eleven Forsyth County teams, making them one of the toughest units to score against.

Across town at Forsyth Central High School, DeSana put together its most explosive offensive performance of the season in a 52-6 demolition of Vickery Creek. The Dragons jumped on the Vipers early and never looked back, racing out to a 24-0 halftime lead before completely taking control in the second half. It was the highest-scoring game of the year for DeSana, fueled by big plays and sharp execution. The 6 points given up matched their lowest total of the season as well.
