2025 Forsyth County Middle School Football Week 2 Recap

At 3:40 PM yesterday, it looked like Mother Nature was going to knock out another gameday, with heavy storms moving into Forsyth County and threatening to wash away Week 2 just as they did the season opener. By 4:00 PM, thunder and lightning had many wondering if the schedule would be wiped out again. Fortunately, the system moved through quicker than expected, clearing the skies and creating just enough of a window to get all five games underway as planned. By kickoff, conditions were still warm and humid, but the worst of the weather had passed — allowing Week 2 to finally deliver the long-awaited start to the season.

In this week’s fcms-athletics.com highlighted matchup, South Forsyth got revenge for their Week 2 loss to Lakeside last year in dominant fashion, rolling to a 36-6 victory. Not only did the Eagles secure a decisive win, but they also gained an early edge in the East Division standings. In a week full of lopsided results, their 30-point margin was the second-largest differential across the county. South Forsyth controlled the game from start to finish, building a 14-0 halftime lead before putting the contest out of reach with a strong second half. The Eagles’ balanced attack and defensive pressure left little doubt, sending a clear message that they will once again be a force in the East.

DeSana has now won two straight over their geographical rivals, Piney Grove, continuing to build momentum in this growing rivalry. The Dragons set the tone early, jumping out to a 14-0 lead by halftime with a mix of strong defense and efficient offense. In the second half, they kept the Grizzlies at arm’s length and cruised to an 18-point victory. It was a crucial win in the East Division, especially with Lakeside’s struggles opening the door for movement in the standings.

Hendricks led 14-13 at halftime, but Liberty stormed back in the second half. The Patriots’ defense shut out the Hawks after the break while the offense piled on 25 points to secure the win. It was the second straight week Liberty’s offense delivered big numbers, cementing them as one of the county’s most dangerous teams. The victory was also key in the West Division, with North Forsyth’s strong start adding pressure to the standings race.

Last year, Little Mill kickstarted its playoff run with a big victory over Vickery Creek. This fall, the roles may be reversed, as Vickery Creek opened divisional play with a statement win in the West. The Vipers jumped to a 21-0 halftime lead behind a balanced attack and a swarming defense, then cruised to a 26-point victory. With North Forsyth and Liberty both looking strong, this dominant performance keeps Vickery Creek firmly in the West Division mix.

Otwell hung tough with North Forsyth through the first half, trailing just 21-14 at the break. But after halftime, the defending champions once again showed why they’re still the team to beat, shutting down the Bulldogs’ offense while their own attack found another gear. North outscored Otwell by four touchdowns in the second half, turning a once-close contest into a convincing win that further reinforces their early dominance in the West Division.
