2025 Forsyth County Middle School Football Week 3 Recap

After cancellations and delays in the first two weeks of the season, Week 3 finally went off without a hitch. The weather was perfect, the crowds were lively, and the action on the field matched the atmosphere.

With another full slate of divisional games in the books, the standings are beginning to take shape and the race to the playoffs is heating up. With only five divisional games in the West and just four in the East, every matchup feels like a playoff game in its own right. A single win can launch a team into the driver’s seat, while a single loss can leave a program scrambling to keep its postseason hopes alive.

After last week’s slate of lopsided blowouts, Week 3 flipped the script with two one-score thrillers — including the featured showdown between North Forsyth and Liberty.

The matchup lived up to the hype as one of the most anticipated games of the season, staying close throughout. Their surprising start makes them a team to watch, and with Vickery Creek still on both North Forsyth's and Liberty’s schedules, the battle for playoff spots — and the West crown — could come down to those key head-to-head matchups.

Other Matchups

After going winless in divisional play last season, DeSana has flipped the script in 2025, now tied atop the East standings with two wins in as many games. The Dragons came out strong, racing to a 14-point halftime lead and never looking back in a decisive victory over Riverwatch, who was making its season debut after a bye last week. With the win, DeSana’s turnaround has quickly become one of the early stories of the year, establishing the Dragons as a true contender in the East.

Little Mill has managed just one touchdown in each of its first two games. Last week, it wasn’t enough in a blowout loss — but this time it secured a narrow win. With West Division leaders off to hot starts, this matchup already carried “must-win” stakes. The defenses battled to a 0-0 halftime deadlock before both teams scored in the second half. The difference came on conversions, as the Mustangs went for two while Otwell’s kick left them one short.

South Forsyth is quickly asserting its dominance in the East with back-to-back blowout wins to open 2025. The Eagles aren’t just winning — they’re making a statement that they may be the team to beat this season. Against Piney Grove, South Forsyth stormed to a commanding 30-0 halftime lead and never looked back, cruising to the most lopsided victory of the year. Their fast start has given them an early edge in the standings and plenty of momentum as divisional play continues.

Vickery Creek is knocking on the door of a playoff spot after starting divisional play 2-0, capped by an impressive rivalry win over Hendricks. It’s a remarkable turnaround from last season, when the Vipers had already suffered three lopsided defeats. The next two weeks will define their season as Vickery faces heavyweights North Forsyth and Liberty — two wins could deliver the division crown, while a split would still likely secure a playoff berth.
