VCMS Vipers @ NFMS Wildcats
Date: Tuesday, September 2 | Location: North Forsyth HS | Kickoff: 6:30 PM
Just like last week, this will be another matchup with major playoff implications. The result between Vickery Creek and North Forsyth could go a long way toward determining the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the West. At this point, the division is shaping up to be a three-team race between North Forsyth, Vickery Creek, and Liberty — though Little Mill remains very much in the hunt and capable of shaking things up down the stretch.
Both squads enter Week 4 in strong form. The Vipers have been dominant in division play, outscoring their first two opponents by a combined 59 points, including a big rivalry win over Hendricks last week that has put even more emphasis on this matchup. North Forsyth, meanwhile, has faced first-half challenges in both of its first two contests, but in true championship form, the Wildcats have made the necessary adjustments to pull out victories. Last week, that resilience was on full display in a 27-21 win over a playoff-caliber Liberty squad, proving they are still the team to beat in the West.
Last year, North Forsyth dominated all facets of the game, defeating Vickery Creek 52-14. This year’s contest, however, should be much closer, with Vickery Creek’s resurgence at the start of the season giving them a legitimate chance to challenge the defending champions.
The stakes are clear: with only five divisional games on the schedule, every win counts double. A victory here could give the winner the inside track to the West title, while the loser will be forced to play catch-up in an unforgiving playoff race.
