The county’s best squads were facing off, and rivalries added an extra layer of intensity to the contests. Another beautiful night for football set the stage, with clear skies and perfect temperatures making it ideal for both players and fans.

From the opening kickoff, it was clear this week would be pivotal. Teams that had started the season slowly were fighting to keep their postseason hopes alive, while the frontrunners were looking to solidify their position and make a statement heading into the final stretch. DeSana came out firing and jumped all over Lakeside early, taking control of the game from the opening kickoff. The Dragons quickly built a two-touchdown lead into halftime, forcing Lakeside to play catch-up. DeSana continued to dominate in the second half, cruising to a 38-14 victory.

With the win, DeSana secured one of the East Division’s playoff spots, keeping their postseason hopes alive and setting up a showdown with South Forsyth in the final week to determine the top seed. Meanwhile, the loss officially ended Lakeside’s playoff run, bringing an end to the Lions’ multi-year streak of playoff appearances.

The victory also highlights the Dragons’ remarkable turnaround from last season. In 2024, DeSana failed to win a single divisional game, but in 2025, they have not only clinched a playoff berth but have also become one of the East’s top contenders, proving just how quickly fortunes can change in Forsyth County football.

NFMS Wildcats (28) @ Little Mill Mustangs (0)

Northern county rivals squared off in what ultimately became a battle for the final West Division playoff berth after Vickery Creek’s win over Liberty. North Forsyth came out sharp, jumping ahead 14-0 by halftime and never letting Little Mill gain traction.

The Wildcats controlled both sides of the ball in the second half, closing out a convincing 28-0 shutout. The victory secured North Forsyth the #2 seed in the West, slotting them right behind rival Vickery Creek in the playoff race. The loss also keeps Little Mill out of the playoffs this year after their outstanding 2024 campaign.

With the win, North returns to the playoffs after capturing last year’s county championship. Other Matchups

Otwell picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion, rolling past Hendricks in a 56-point outburst. The Bulldogs’ offensive explosion was the highest scoring output of the season so far and marked the first time any team has broken into the 50s this year. Despite the milestone victory, both Otwell and Hendricks were officially eliminated from playoff contention following wins by Vickery Creek and North Forsyth. Still, the Bulldogs made a strong statement and will look to finish the season with momentum.

Piney Grove broke through for their first win of the season, edging past Riverwatch in what turned out to be the second-closest game of the year. The Grizzlies carried a narrow lead into halftime and did just enough down the stretch to hang on for the divisional victory. Piney Grove had already been eliminated from playoff contention the week before, but the win was a much-needed bounce back after a tough start to the season. For Riverwatch, the loss officially ended their playoff hopes, closing the book on their 2025 postseason chances.
