2025 Forsyth County Middle School Football Week 7 Recap

Seven Forsyth County teams returned from fall break for the final round of non-divisional action, and the results looked strikingly similar to Week 6. Once again, three playoff-bound squads — DeSana, South Forsyth, and Vickery Creek — took the field, and once again, all three were dominant.

Each of the contenders rolled to double-digit victories, scoring at least 30 points apiece. Collectively, they outscored their opponents 95-24, reinforcing the gap between Forsyth’s playoff favorites and the rest of the pack with October postseason play quickly approaching.

The only other matchup on the slate saw the West Jackson Panthers protect their home field against Lakeside. After falling to the Lions in 2024, the Panthers returned the favor this season, earning a satisfying revenge win in the rematch.

With non-divisional games now complete, the focus shifts back to divisional play and the stretch run toward the postseason. In one of the biggest games so far this season, all eyes will be on DeSana and South Forsyth as they face off for the East Division crown and the East's #1 seed in the upcoming October playoffs.

Matchups (Playoff Teams)

DeSana Dragons (30) @

Piney Grove Grizzlies (6)

DeSana stayed perfect, moving to 5-0 on the season with a dominant and commanding performance against Piney Grove.

The Dragons swept the rivalry this year, following up their 26-8 divisional win in Week 2 with a 24-point victory in the non-divisional rematch. While Piney Grove managed to hold DeSana to its lowest scoring totals of the season in both meetings, the Dragons’ defense was extraordinary, limiting the Grizzlies to just one touchdown each time.

For Piney Grove, the loss marked the end of their season, as the Grizzlies head into a Week 8 bye with an overall record of 1-5 and a 1-3 finish in the East Division. Meanwhile, DeSana now turns its focus to South Forsyth in a marquee Week 8 matchup. The game will decide the East Division crown and secure the #1 seed in the upcoming playoffs, setting the stage for one of the biggest showdowns of the season.

Little Mill Mustangs (6) @

South Forsyth Eagles (30)

South Forsyth also stayed undefeated after a strong and impressive team showing against Little Mill in Week 7.

South Forsyth stayed undefeated with a dominant 24-point victory over Little Mill in Week 7. Leading by two touchdowns at the half, the Eagles never looked back, cruising to the win.

Little Mill will wrap up its season in Week 8 with a matchup against Liberty for third place in the West Division. The Mustangs will be the only team in 2025 to play seven games after they had their bye in Week 1 when all the games were cancelled due to inclement weather. South Forsyth now turns its focus to a marquee East Division showdown with DeSana at the friendly confines of South Forsyth High School, where the Eagles are 3-0 this year. The opposing Dragons have won one game at South High this season so both teams are familiar with the location.

Vickery Creek Vipers (35) @

Riverwatch Panthers (12)

Vickery Creek remained undefeated after turning it on in a strong second half performance against Riverwatch in Week 7.

The Vipers led by just a touchdown at the half, 14-6, before cruising to a three-touchdown victory. The win keeps them perfect on the season, building momentum as they head into the October playoffs, with the #1 seed in the West Division already secured.

Riverwatch will close out their season with a divisional matchup against Lakeside in Week 8, their last opportunity in 2025 to secure their first victory. Meanwhile, Vickery Creek already knows its playoff fate as the West Division’s #1 seed, but the Vipers will have to wait one more week to learn their first-round opponent, which will be the loser of the East Division showdown between DeSana and South Forsyth.

Other Matchups

Lakeside Lions (8) @

West Jackson Panthers (28)

Lakeside struggled to find any momentum on either side of the ball against West Jackson in their tough road defeat.

After knocking off the Panthers on their way to a championship appearance and eventual runner-up finish in 2024, the Lions find themselves on the opposite side of the pendulum in 2025. Lakeside has one divisional game remaining against Riverwatch next week, where the Lions will be looking for their second win of the season while trying to avoid a four-game losing streak to close out 2025.
